Thing #4 Register your Blog and Post an Avatar
Well, I guess it is official now! I am still waiting to receive my welcome email to let me know I have done the things correctly so far. Okay - thanks for the emails and comment here to let me know I didn't complete Thing #3! I finally figured out how to make and export an Avatar - fun! I am realizing that it is easy for me to get sidetracked or distracted from some of the steps I need to complete. I will have to work on that!
Thing # 3 - Set up Your Own Blog
Before starting this program, I would have said that I could have lived the rest of my life quite comfortably without ever figuring out what a blog is, how to use one or why we would want to use one! My husband just shared with me a great article about blogging among older baby boomers (that was published in the Wall Street Journal recently). I am still of the mindset that I'm not quite sure how important blogging is going to be to me personally, at least in the immediate future. I do want to be able to help my students learn and use new technology, so that is my main motivation for taking this class.
Thing #2 Pointers for Lifelong Learners
If you are alive you are learning - whether you want to or not! Some of the best learning experiences I've had were not voluntarily sought lessons, but rather, seemed to be almost forced upon me. Why are we afraid of new learning experiences sometimes? Fear of failure or fear of the unknown? With learning comes growth, evolution and transformation. This first step (actually second step) in the 23 Things program on which I am embarking, was helpful to get me back in touch with why it is important to take learning risks.
